The City Street Department have been busily inspecting and inventorying deficiencies in the City Right of Way (ROW). Included in this inspection are potholes, gutters, intakes, curbs, trees, signs, driveways, and sidewalks. The locations identified will be used in larger data determination for project areas with consideration from outside experts including CIRPTA, Asphalt Paving Association of Iowa and Engineers. Additional consideration to other municipal utilities and walkability will be considered for these project areas.

The sidewalk and driveway paving are the responsibility of the homeowner and should be addressed if repairs are needed. However, at this time no citations or notices have been delivered for deficient sidewalks. For more information on Sidewalk responsibility and repairs see Sidewalk Code.

These projects are a direct correlation to the responses and direction provided during the Comprehensive Plan. Noting the desire to improve streets, sidewalks, and connectivity in our community.
